General Information about AS-Interface

The ASI Interface is a networking system for the lowest level of Fieldbuses. It is designed for networking binary sensors and actuators. The ASI network uses a simple two-wire cable for both power (+30v) and data signals. This cable allows for very low cost applications to be directly connected to the ASI cable thus reducing cabling costs. The ASI network is designed to transfer 4 bits of inputs and 4 bits of outputs on each bus cycle. Analog inputs and outputs can be supported by consuming multiple bus cycles. Communication baud rate is 167 k bits/s. Up to 31 nodes can be used in a single network (248 IO points).
